One police sergeant who jumped to the aid of a partner who was ambushed by a knife attacker was granted the Monarch's Honor for Bravery.

Sergeant Tim Ansell fought with twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown following he pressed a knife to the neck of his fellow officer Sgt Marc Foster.

Brown began the violence as the policemen and their partner, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were conversing to a motorist subsequent to a vehicle incident in that location in summer 2023.

Brown knifed and cut the two Sgt Ansell and Sgt Foster prior to Police Constable Wolstencroft stunned him with a stun gun.

"Policeman knifed," PC Wolstencroft was heard to say over his communication device.

Bodyworn and dashcam recording shared by the police department revealed Brown, wearing in black with a hood covering head, rush to Sergeant Foster from behind with a blade pointed forward.

He struck the policeman who stumbled and dropped to the ground, before Sergeant Ansell jumped in and struggled to restrain him to the pavement although being multiple times hit with the knife.

Police Constable Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and sought a safe opportunity, bringing the fight to an conclusion.

Sgt Ansell stated audibly: "I need something on my throat now, I got knifed in the throat."

Sergeant Ansell received multiple deep cuts to his neck and additional cuts to his arms and body, whereas Sergeant Foster experienced knife wounds.

The department said Sergeant Foster employed his hands to stop his partner's blood loss prior to medical personnel arrived.

The latest award comes subsequent to the law enforcement team won organizational Courage Honors in late 2023 and the police federation award from the local union branch in spring 2024.

They additionally received a North West Valor Recognition in July 2024.

"The actions of all three officers eventually rescued one another and resulted in no bystanders endured any harm."
